Painting the Rock

Now pretty much an extinct tradition, painting the rock is one that goes far back.

Located in the river next to Ives Park and in plain sight from one of the two bridges between the Clarkson campus and downtown Potsdam is a rock formation above water level. Each year, enterprising students from Greek organizations went out in the river and painted the rock with their letters.

This tradition is a rather old one. A ZN alum has heard stories from his uncle, an alumni member of Tau Epsilon Phi, about painting this very rock.
